Lubrizol appoints President of Advanced Materials as new CEO

Eric Schnur has taken over as the new boss after working for the company for more than 27 years

Lubrizol has announced that Eric Schnur, previously its President of Advanced Materials, will assume the role of Chairman, President and CEO.

Schnur joined the company in 1989 during and has received a number of promotions within a variety of technical and commercial positions, leading to this role.

He joined the company as an engineer in research and development within the US head office, but has worked at several of Lubrizol’s domestic and global company facilities, including management roles in Singapore, Southeast Asia and Australia.

Schnur succeeded James Hambrick earlier this month, after Hambrick completed a career within the company spanning more than 38 years.

Schnur said that “it is a great honor to have this opportunity.” He said: “I want to thank James for all he has done for Lubrizol and for the strong foundation he has left upon which we can build and continue to grow the company.”

“All of us at Lubrizol remain focused on delivering valuable specialty chemical solutions to meet our customers' needs in the transportation, industrial and consumer markets."

Schnur was named Lubrizol's President and Chief Operating Officer in mid-2016, having previously served as President of the Lubrizol Advanced Materials business segment for eight years.

Headquartered in Ohio, the Lubrizol Corporation produces and supplies speciality chemicals for a range of sectors, including the personal care industry. Schnur will now be in control of the company's manufacturing facilities across 17 countries and 8,800 employees.

Over the past 14 years, Hambrick has expanded the company’s portfolio through numerous strategic transactions, including Noveon International in 2004.

The company was bought by Lubrizol for $1.2bn and specialises in personal care speciality chemicals.
