Lush launches mobile app for US consumers

App bridges gap between online and in-store

Lush Cosmetics has announced the launch of a mobile app for iOS and Android devices. The app is available in the US and was developed with Oven Bits, the development team behind the Vogue mobile app.

The app is designed to bridge the gap between the in-store and online consumer experience. Users can search for products based on their favourite scents, such as citrus or herbal, or on the way they want to feel, such as inspired or relaxed.

Users can also browse categories such as bath, shower, hair, face, body, make-up or gifts. A separate spa feature offers descriptions of treatments and the chance to book an appointment at the Lush Spas in New York and Philadelphia.

A 'stories' tab also offers editorial features on a mix of topics from light-hearted beauty tutorials through to articles on Lush’s charitable work. The section also includes details on how Lush sources ingredients and its sustainability work. Social media is fully integrated with a tab displaying fan comments from Facebook and Instagram.

Brandi Halls, Director of Brand Communications at Lush, explained: “So much of the Lush shopping experience is about touching, feeling and smelling the products, we really see our new app as a way to bridge that gap between retail and digital for our customers. Giving our fans the option to shop by feeling really does emulate the sense of being in-store.” She added: ‘We are excited that our customers will now have the true Lush experience at their fingertips so they can engage with the brand when and where they want.”

The app is available for download in the US now. Lush says that further features will be added in the coming months.
