Omya develops functional mineral for make-up

Calcium carbonates supplier Omya has developed Omyaskin, a new generation of recrystallised mineral particles for use in decorative cosmetics.

Made using a patented technology, the material's advanced structure offers greater porosity and a larger surface area.

The incorporated pigment improves the colour and coverage of make-up.

It also boosts SPF in skin creams, as well as absorbing sebum for a matte finish. Adding 1-10% Omyaskin to a formulation enhances the compressibility and skin feel of products.
