Retailer expands delivery ahead of Christmas

Target will start offering international delivery from its website ahead of Christmas 2015. The retailer opened an international version of its website yesterday and also has plans to allow US customers to ship Target orders around to the world as gifts.

The new site, Intl.Target.com, will carry around half the number of products as the retailer's main website. Available stock will include apparel, home products and toys as well as beauty products. Prices will be the same as those listed in the US and will be available in almost 60 different currencies.

Markets that can take advantage of the new international shipping site include China, India, Canada, Mexico and the European Union. Target has partnered with Borderfree, a global e-commerce company owned by Pitney Bowes, for the innovation. The company offers technology and services for ecommerce brands across the world.

Lila Snyder, President of Global Ecommerce at Pitney Bowes, commented: "We are thrilled to deliver our global e-commerce capabilities to Target. Our deep experience with cross-border shopping is foundational to our collaboration with Target."

Jason Goldberger, President of Target.com, said: "We believe international consumers will love shopping the great brands, great prices and exclusive products that are synonymous with Target. Target.com already gets tens of millions of visitors every year from outside the US and this test will give us even greater insight into how shoppers around the world engage with Target."

Goldberger added: "International shipping marks another step toward Target being able to truly deliver for guests anytime, anywhere. We look forward t getting feedback from our international guests so we can continue to test, learn and iterate to help ensure we provide a great value to our new international guests."
