Zalando celebrates diversity in 2019 Christmas campaign

The advert is said to embody Zalando’s ‘free to be’ ethos as the online retailer caters for a range of styles and ages

Online beauty and fashion retailer Zalando is celebrating the diversity of its customers with a new Christmas campaign.

Titled ‘Whatever your style, at Christmas we always come together’, the film follows a young man taking his grandmother to a Christmas ball, where they discover everyone else on the guestlist has taken their grandparent.

The diverse styles and intergenerational attendees are said to embody the brand’s ‘free to be’ ethos and showcases Zalando’s broad offering, which caters to all styles, occasions and ages.

Commenting on the campaign, Zalando’s Director of Marketing Strategy and Campaigns Jonny Ng, said: “Our Christmas campaign is the continuation of our ‘free to be’ brand positioning, based on the customer insight that when you’re free to wear what you want, and be who you want, nothing can hold you back.

“During the festive period we want to capture the diversity of our audiences and the many unique ways they celebrate together.”

He continued: “At Zalando, with over 29 million customers shopping more than 450,000 style from over 2,000 brands, we know that style is never defined by age, gender, look, shape or background.”

The film was directed by Sam Hibbard and produced by Somesuch, meanwhile, the campaign stills were photographed by Tom Johnson.

Today, customers in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, Belgium and Italy can buy beauty products from the retailer.
