The industry trade show was due to take place in Spain, one of the countries hit hardest by Covid-19, from 30 June-2 July but will now be hosted in October
The organisers of in-Cosmetics Global have been forced to reschedule the industry trade show for the second time, following the ‘steep escalation’ of the coronavirus pandemic.
Today, according to the Johns Hopkins resource database, Spain has reported almost 142,000 cases of coronavirus and more than 14,000 deaths.
The country has overtaken Italy as the hardest hit European country.
In a statement, Cathy Laporte, Portfolio Director at even organiser Reed Exhibitions, said the health and safety of its exhibitors, visitors and staff is the “number one priority”.
“The situation surrounding Covid-19 is constantly changing,” she said.
“The health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors and staff is our number one priority and we will remain guided by the expert advice of the public health authorities.
“We understand that the global pandemic is having planning and financial implications for the industry.
“We have therefore proactively taken this decision well in advance of the current June dates to allow exhibitors and visitors more time to prepare and gain maximum value for the event when it happens.”
Laporte described the last few months as a “difficult” period but said she was inspired by the “resilience” of the industry.
“As event organisers, we are proud to serve such an innovative and caring industry, and we can’t wait to get the global personal care and beauty community together once again in Barcelona in October.”
