PPR in lap of luxury

Luxury goods and retail group PPR has reported solid results for 2006. The company's annual report shows a sharp growth in operating income (+20%) while revenue grew 5.9% to €17.93bn. The group's luxury goods arm was responsible in the main for this impressive growth, with the division increasing its recurring operating income to the tune of 44.2% for a total of €565m. PPR's retail department, meanwhile, put on just 4.1% to €759m.

PPR's retail department, meanwhile, put on just 4.1% to €759m.

Skin care now represents 1.1% of PPR's revenue, while cosmetics take a 5% share and fragrances make up 11.5%. Europe is the group's biggest market (42.1% of revenue), followed by North America (20% share), Asia Pacific (17%) and Japan (16.3%). Other countries account for the remaining 4.6%.
