ReFaC - the REACH Facilitation Company for Europe's chemical supply chain - yesterday (30 May 2007) introduced its secure product database, developed to help companies form consortia and achieve compliance with REACH cost effectively.

“ReFaC's key objective is to minimise the cost of REACH compliance and one of the best ways to achieve this is through the formation of consortia which allow several companies to pool test data and share costs,” said Chairman, Melvyn Whyte.

“The product database, already contains a broad spectrum of products” says Melvyn Whyte, “We hope that, over the next few months, it will continue to grow to become a very valuable tool for the industry, and particularly help smaller firms in their quest for cost effective REACH compliance.”

The database contains product name, CAS number, EINECS number and tonnage band as well as other information, essential for REACH purposes.

To access, search or add to the product database, companies need to register with ReFaC, but registration is free of charge. The database is also secure. Company and product identity is protected, with only ReFaC staff will be able to access this information. “ReFaC staff will only provide it to a third party, as part of the registration process, after being given express permission to do so by the company listing the product(s) involved,” says Melvyn Whyte
