Revlon's 2010 sales up by 2%
Colour cosmetics and hair colourant lines drive sales
Global cosmetics company Revlon has posted positive results for 2010 and for the fourth quarter ended 31 December 2010.
In 2010 net sales were $1.32bn, an increase of 2% on the previous year. Higher net sales of Revlon colour cosmetics and Revlon ColorSilk hair colourants were partially offset by lower net sales of the Almay colour cosmetics brand and Mitchum antiperspirant deodorants.
Meanwhile net sales in the fourth quarter of 2010 were $97.2m, an increase of 7.1% over 2009. Revlon’s performance was particularly good in the Asia Pacific region, where net sales reached $60.8m, up by 20.9% on the previous year.
Alan T. Ennis, Revlon president and chief executive officer comments: “In 2010, we continued to execute our business strategy. We grew the top lines, improved our financial performance and strengthened our organisational capability with key management appointments in R&D, marketing and general management.”
Ennis continues: “We introduced a number of successful, innovative, high quality, consumer preferred products across our entire portfolio and significantly increased investment behind our brands.”
