Roger & Gallet to focus on international expansion
Brand will look outside France for growth opportunities
L'Oréal is to convert the luxury soap brand, Roger & Gallet, into an international brand focused on export. The subsidiary currently achieves 85% of its sales on the French domestic market. The group's objective is to double sales over the next five years to around €100m. The strategy is also being designed in the expectation that pharmacies abroad selling the range of soaps will be able to attract a new clientele.
Roger & Gallet has already established a presence in some 3,500 pharmacy outlets in France, Spain, Italy and Germany since mid 2011 and so now has about 8,500 in all in Europe. The company has also started expansion in Brazil with 550 retail outlets. Meanwhile, a relaunch has been underway in France with steadily rising sales, up some 22% last year.
