Bollywood actress and Celebrity Big Brother winner, Shilpa Shetty is the latest star to launch a fragrance. The new scent, S2, a play on the star's initials, was presented to the press last night at a glamorous ceremony attended by Shetty herself.
The new fragrance was developed by Fragrance & Beauty and French perfume house Robertet and is described as refined, dignified and elegant and subtle, reflecting Shetty's key values.
“S2 represents where I am on a global scale and my family in India,” explained Shetty. “This is a scent that comes from my heart and is strongly based around jasmine”.
The semi amber floral opens with notes of mandarin, bergamot, cyclamen, peach and melon, blending into the heart of jasmine, sandalwood, vetiver and patchouli. The sensual dry down comprises musk and vanilla.
The glass bottle features the star's signature and a phone charm adorned with Swarovski crystals, while the outer packing is iridescent white, with a white and pink leopard print inner, reflecting Shilpa's two different sides.
A line of ancillary products including a fragrance primer are in development. “The ancillary products won't be the standard thing,” explained Fragrance & Beauty's Mark Earnshaw.
The UK was chosen to debut the fragrance due to the high publicity surrounding the star since her stint on Celebrity Big Brother. It will debut in The Perfume Shop on Oxford Street, at the beginning of July before rolling out nationally. It will launch in Dubai, India and Europe later this year.
S2 is priced at £19.95 for 100ml, which offers, “value and is a key price barrier in the UK” according to Earnshaw.
