As the UK-wide smoking ban approaches, the entertainment industry is looking to the fragrance industry to provide a replacement scent for clubs and bars across the country.
When the smoking ban comes into effect, bars and clubs will no longer be able to rely on the overwhelming scent of cigarette smoke to mask unpleasant odours that are associated with large crowds of people, dancing and public amenities.
Club-operator McMillan-York is currently trialling strawberry and vanilla fragrances in two of its establishments, while fresh flowers, lemon meringue pie and peaches have also been pitted as viable alternatives. Should the trial prove successful, McMillan York intends to install up to three diffusion machines in each venue across its portfolio.
