The latest chapter for troubled beauty brand Stila Cosmetics has unfolded with the announcement it is to be sold to New York-based venture capitalist firm Patriarch Partners.
The firm is expected to acquire the brand from lenders Wachovia Group and CIT Group for an undisclosed figure after previous owners Sun Capital Partners reportedly walked away from the deal after Stila defaulted on a loan.
Stila has gone through a number of high profile sales and acquisitions in recent years – founder Jeanine Lobell sold the cosmetics brand to Estée Lauder Companies in 1999. Lauder then sold it to Sun Capital in 2006.
