Symrise adds peptides to its portfolio

Fragrance, active cosmetic ingredients and flavourings supplier Symrise has acquired a 20% stake in the US biotechnology company Therapeutic Peptides Inc (TPI), securing exclusive distribution rights for its ingredients.


Fragrance, active cosmetic ingredients and flavourings supplier Symrise has acquired a 20% stake in the US biotechnology company Therapeutic Peptides Inc (TPI), securing exclusive distribution rights for its ingredients.

In return, Louisiana-based TPI will benefit from fresh resources, which will enable it to maintain its research work.

“It is only just recently that peptides have been used in cosmetic products. We are delighted to be able to integrate these modern and very effective ingredients in our portfolio,” said Klaus Stanzl, president of scent and care, Life Essentials. “With TPI we have found a partner who is developing these ingredients at a scientifically exalted level and can offer expertise in this field.” In connection with the shareholding deal, Stanzl has also been elected to TPI’s supervisory board.
