Symrise has funded a school in China’s earthquake-struck Sichuan province, in cooperation with NGO China Youth and Development Fund (CYDF). The company’s executive board donated €50,000 to the Symrise School of Hope, which will offer space for 500 students for two to five years until Chinese authorities have rebuilt official school buildings.

Explaining the gesture, Thomas Dressler, regional president, scent and care, Asia Pacific, said: “Our clients and all of the people here have always been extremely accommodating and have treated us with openness and respect. Now we have a chance to give something back.”

A separate Symrise fund drive has raised €13,000 for the CYDF-coordinated Project Hope Disaster Relief, which likewise supports victims and survivors of the earthquake.
