The beauty industry has become an unexpected casualty in the wake of US President Donald Trump’s global tariff hikes.  

The so-called ‘Liberation Day’ taxes came into effect in April 2025, imposing a 10% tariff on all countries.

And although a 90-day pause on taxes on certain goods has since been announced by Trump, global market anxiety remains at an all-time high. 

Brands and manufacturers are scrambling to control the situation, but a creeping outcome of the higher levies is that products are simply going to become more expensive.
