The first Cosmopolitan Fragrance Awards honour this year’s best scents
Last night, the inaugural Cosmopolitan Fragrance Awards 2009 recognised the best fragrances from the last 12 months. The ceremony saw a total of 21 accolades awarded, 13 of which were voted for by an expert panel and a further eight of which were chosen by Cosmopolitan readers and visitors to the online magazine. Formerly a category in the Cosmopolitan Beauty Awards, this year fragrance was pulled out and launched as an awards platform in its own right for the first time.

Held at London’s Swarovski Crystallized Lounge, the winners were announced by editor Louise Court and publishing director Justine Southall.
The panel found Chanel No 5 Eau Première to be the freshest fragrance for women, while Dior Homme Sport was considered the freshest fragrance for men. Esteé Lauder Sensuous was voted the sexiest fragrance for women with Guerlain Homme winning the men’s category. The award for most the romantic fragrance for women went to Flora by Gucci and Lalique White Pour Homme was felt to be the most original fragrance for men.
Other categories included best classic fragrance, won by Clinique Aromatics Elexir (women) and Yves Saint Laurent Kouros (men) and most deliciously fragranced bath and body line, which was awarded to the Thierry Mugler Angel Body Line.
The panel considered Gwen Stefani Harajuku Lovers G to be the best celebrity fragrance for women and Usher UR to be the best for men, while Narciso Rodriguez Essence took the award for best fragrance packaging for women and Givenchy Play scooped the male equivalent.
In the readers’ awards, DKNY Be Delicious won the freshest fragrance for women category, with Davidoff Cool Water taking the prize for men’s fragrance, while the sexiest fragrance categories saw Dior J‘Adore and Boss by Hugo Boss emerge as winners.
Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely scooped the award for best celebrity fragrance for women while best celebrity fragrance for men went to Intimately Beckham for Him.
Finally, Burberry The Beat and Jean Paul Gaultier Le Mâle won the best bottle design categories.
