Australian natural hair and body care specialist The Purist Company is to open a subsidiary company in London to service the UK market in January 2009, The Purist Company Europe Ltd. The company, responsible for the A’kin and Alchemy brands, hopes the move will enable it to further promote its A’kin products in the region.
Lisa Alward is to manage the subsidiary in her new role as sales and marketing manager. “This new appointment and opening of the subsidiary office is in line with the strategic direction of The Purist Company, which is to be a leader in all markets,” comments Catherine O’Keefe, general manager, The Purist Company. “This follows the considerable investment in the logistics infrastructure to support the diversification of the business together with the expansion of the product development and technical department to be in the forefront of new product and business expansion.”
A’kin, which launched in the UK three years ago, now counts the region as its strongest export market. “The product has high loyalty,” O’Keefe tells SPC, citing top-mark reviews from QVC customers as “evidence of how the brand works.”
After its UK subsidiary opens, The Purist Company will be launching an A’kin men’s range, available in March 2009.
