Unilever’s personal care business boosts sales

Consumer goods giant calls Q1 personal care results “excellent”


Unilever has reported a 4.1% increase in underlying sales growth in the first quarter of 2010, driven by its personal care division, which had an “excellent quarter”. Personal care enjoyed underlying sales growth of 7.9% and turnover for the division was €3.13bn, comprising over 30% of Unilever’s €10.14bn total turnover. According to Unilever, personal care’s strong performance came on the back of several innovative new product launches, especially those under its Dove brand umbrella such as Dove Men+Care and Dove Hair Damage Repair.

While Unilever experienced some underlying sales growth in Western Europe (+0.2%) and the Americas (+3.7%), the fastest growing sector was Asia Africa CEE, where sales increased by 7.6%.
