The upcoming Biofuel Summit, which is to held in Madrid on 17-18th April, will see 32 experts discussing the sustainability of vegetable oils as a raw material for biofuels and as a replacement for fossil fuels.
Questions will be asked as to whether vegetable oils represent a viable partial or complete substitute to fossil oils as a raw material for fuels, given that their proliferation actually seems to be accelerating the mass destruction of the last remaining rainforests, which are habitats for endangered species of fauna, to make way for soya and palm plantations.
The issue of jatropha bushes will be addressed by world renowned expert Dr Reinhard K. Henning. Jatropha is currently cultivated on mass scale in some countries including India because its fruit is highly suitable for biodiesel Easy to grow and very hardy, jatropha is seen as being likely to become the best suited raw material in terms of environment industry and consumers.
