Why brands want one partner for cross-category collections, not a split supply chain

Holiday collections, advent calendars, spa kits and PR boxes now put beauty, wellness and lifestyle in the same drop. The brief is one collection

Too often the work is still split: tools from one supplier, bags from another, formulation from a third, home and packaging from somewhere else. When each supplier interprets the brief separately, shades and finishes could come back unmatched, the packed set could look less like the campaign than the artwork suggested, and packing is left until the end, under the most time pressure.

Brands and retailers are now looking for a simpler structure; one team that can develop across those categories and keep the set coherent through sampling, production and packing.

Concept 4 works the brief as one project

Concept 4 is a beauty and fashion solutions partner whose work already sits across the categories that share a gift box: cosmetics and toiletries, beauty tools, pouches and fashion accessories, home fragrance and décor, primary and secondary packaging.

With those categories inside the same company, a collection can be designed, developed, sourced and co-packed as one project, with a single partner accountable for how the collection looks and when it ships.

Already on shelf

Nocibé and Douglas brought a private-label beauty advent calendar to shelf with Concept 4 as the turnkey partner, holding formulation, components, compliance and packing in one programme. Cross-category collections such as “Un Air de Paris” put soap, room spray, sleep masks and plaster diffusers into one gifting set. Other gift-led sets have combined masks, rollers, headbands and pouches rather than treating accessories as an afterthought.

“We’re seeing more clients come to us to create complete collections rather than sourcing product by product. It means we can build a much stronger story around a trend, with every detail feeling considered and intentional. At the same time, the lines between beauty and fashion are becoming increasingly blurred, so our cross-category expertise allows us to bring those worlds together and create collections that feel cohesive and relevant”, said Kate Harrison, Director of New Product Development & Marketing.

Built for international launches

Founded in 2003 and a Certified B Corporation, Concept 4 is headquartered in Hong

Kong, with offices in China, India, France and the United States, and production and co-packing across Asia, Europe and the US. The same model supports brands and retailers in Europe, North America, Australia and other international markets shipping seasonal collections, holiday sets, amenity kits, subscription boxes and influencer kits.

Sustainability is built into development, including FSC-certified and PCR options, rather than applied after the product is set. Quality, vendor compliance and project management sit in the same process that takes a collection from concept to packed carton.

Five capsule collections, built to launch as one

That approach is set out in Concept 4’s SS27 work: Un Air de Paris, Tropicalia, Coastal Boho, Revival Core and Core. Five directions; ritual, resort, coast, summer glow and everyday carry - each developed across beauty, wellness and lifestyle so the set can be packed as one launch.

If the next launch has to live across beauty, wellness and lifestyle, it should not be split across a supply chain that cannot manage the whole collection.
