A new environmentally responsible dispensing system that replaces hydrocarbons with compressed air has been unveiled. Created by Crown Holdings, the EarthSafe Dispensing System has been designed to help brand owners comply with directives from the California Air Resources Board, which look set to become law by January 2010.
Crown emphasises the system’s environmental benefits, but is also keen to stress its efficacy. The EarthSafe Dispensing System features a multi-layer barrier piston that extends shelf life by eliminating primary and secondary gas permeation. In addition, a universal grommet creates an airtight seal, enabling use of lower pressure to discharge the product.
The new technology, which can be used to dispense gels and other personal care products, is expected to be commercial next year.
