Hosokawa Micron has launched a new impact mill claimed to be suitable for processing very small batches.

The LMP2 mill can grind small batches from 2g down to 25 microns, and is believed to be one of the smallest mills available on the market.

The mill is designed for laboratory and bench top grinding of materials under test or for expensive ingredients. The machine works using a fixed row of pins mounted on the mill house door and a rotating pin disc with a variable speed control from 4,000 to 36,000 rpm. The intermeshing pins produce an ultra fine grinding of particles.

The components in the unit can be easily removed for cleaning and there is a vibratory feeder to ensure a steady flow.
