Cleaver Scientific’s (CSL) uvCAB UV Sterilisation Cabinets are said to be an ideal solution for setting up polymerase chain reactions (PCR). The cabinets, dubbed ‘mini cleanrooms’, include powerful UV lights, which serve to denature nucleic acids in five to 30 minutes minimising the potential for PCR reaction contamination. The lights are timer controlled and there are safety switches on the cabinet doors, which automatically turn off the UV lights when the doors are opened, preventing user exposure. The cabinets also act as an effective shield against beta radioactive emissions and can therefore be safely used with isotopes, such as 32P. They also include white light to provide visibility when working inside the cabinet.

The uvCAB comes in two sizes: maxi (660x560x420mm) and mini (400x560x350mm). Accessories including DNA and RNA removing solutions and safety trays with disposable liners for use in both cabinets are also available.
