A permeable problem solved

Published: 29-Sep-2010

Cosmetic containers must be efficient at excluding water and oxygen in order to prevent the growth of micro-organisms and to prevent rancidity. To ensure that a material’s barrier properties are suitable for packaging cosmetics, Versaperm is offering permeability measuring equipment to assess the permeability of both the packaging material and the final manufactured container, which can be more than four times less effective due to the manufacturing process.

The system can be configured for water vapour, oxygen, CO2, solvents, volatiles and most other gases, while accuracy is in the parts per million range. It can be used on a range of materials as well as bottles, tubs, tubes, sachets, films and laminates.
