Alberto Culver enjoys Q1 growth
Alberto Culver Company appears to have avoided the negative effects of the recession reporting a 2.8% increase in net sales for the first quarter of fiscal 2009. Net sales for the company, which manufactures TRESemmé, Alberto V05, Nexxus, St Ives and Noxzema, increased to $352.8m from $343.2m in the same period of 2008. Excluding the effect of foreign exchange rates and the acquisition of Noxzema, organic sales increased 9.5%.

According to Alberto Culver president and chief executive officer V James Marino, this strong performance was driven mainly by growth in its TRESemmé and Nexxus brands.
