BASF Beauty Care Solutions has unveiled Lys’lastine, a patented elastin rejuvenator. Lys’lastine is based on a botanical extract, said to reactivate the synthesis of lysyl oxidase in the form of a cross-linking agent that holds the two components of elastin – fibrillin and tropo-elastin – together. “Lys’lastine will open new claim territories in the skin care world, as retinol or AHAs did,” said Frank Freiler, general manager of BASF.

BASF has also been promoting the efficacy of its Uvinul A Plus as a barrier against UVA radiation at the recent Sun Protection Awareness Day in Germany.

BASF’s Uvinul A Plus is claimed to reduce the amount of UV light penetrating the skin by converting it into harmless heat and, being highly lightproof, the Germany company says it provides long-lasting protection.
