Beauty imports up in Korea
Demand higher during September’s Chuseok holiday season
Sales of imported cosmetics in Korea grew in the third quarter following the release of new products and higher demand during September’s Chuseok (‘autumn harvest’) holiday season.
Sales of imported cosmetics at Lotte Department Store posted a 1.9% rise year on year in the third quarter, which was the store’s first rise this year.“New products helped bring growth back. Coloured make-up items sold especially well,” said a Lotte spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the sale of imported cosmetics at Hyundai Department Store also grew, up 1.6% in the third quarter, while Shinsegae Department Store also saw a 7.6% sales rise in September from a year ago for imported cosmetics.
