The European Consumer Organisation (BEUC) says that proposed EU regulations on the e-labelling of fragrances are unfair to busy shoppers, who cannot be expected “to spend the extra time and effort to access information via QR codes, web links or barcodes for each cosmetic product”.
Greater transparency about fragrance allergens through on-pack labels is urgent, said BEUC in its feedback to the European Commission.
“In line with the 2012 SCCS opinion, [we insist] on the need for greater transparency about the presence of fragrance allergens in cosmetic products,” said the organisation.
