The luxury French maison has revived its iconic 1990s red-black nail polish shade in a new limited edition make-up collection which spans eyes, lips, complexion and tools

Chanel has reimagined and revived its iconic 1990s shade Rouge Noir as part of a limited edition colour cosmetics collection.

The luxury French maison originally launched the shade as a nail polish colour during its autumn/winter Ready to Wear show in 1994.

The ‘red that is almost black, black that is almost red’ is now breaking out beyond the nail category, infiltrating into all areas of Chanel make-up.

It is a timely move for Chanel as many beauty brands are tapping into the nostalgia trend and bringing beloved discontinued products back from the vault.

Chanel Global Makeup Creative Partner and Cometes Collective member, Ammy Drammeh, is starting a new chapter for Rouge Noir, with a number of launches spanning eyes, lips, complexion, nails and even tools.

The collection also uses vibrant magenta shades to intensify the colour, as well as soothing soft pinks and rock-inspired grey shades.

The original Le Vernis Rouge Noir nail polish is joined by grey Moderniste and magenta Performer.

For lips, the shade will launch in a Rouge Allure Laque formula, as well as the Rouge Allure Velvet lip stick.

Eyes are elevated via Noir Allure Mascara in Rouge Noir, alongside the Stylo Teux Waterproof Eyeliner in Roue Noir and Gris Graphite, and Ombre Essentielle Eyeshadow Palette in Gris Rose and Brun Rose.

Multi-use palette Rouge Noir Confidence features four shades in red and pink hues, with the collection also including a Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick in new shade Cute.

The collection is completed by Les Pinceaux Rouge Noir – a trio of make-up brushes in a limited edition pouch.

The limited edition collection prices range from £30 to £118.
