Cognex sees the big picture

Cognex has announced its latest endeavour - OmniView software technology, which allows the user to inspect the entire cylindrical surface of bottles, cans, vials and cosmetic containers without orientation or accurate positioning.

OmniView utilises four cameras and can read barcodes, verify text, inspect graphics and measure features at production line speeds of up to 1200 parts per minute. Without this technology, obtaining this type of image would require stopping and rotating each object in front of a line scan camera.

“OmniView allows customers to more cost-effectively avoid mislabelling errors, comply with evolving safety standards and ensure product quality,” says Marilyn Matz, Cognex senior vp, PC Vision Products Group.
