Cosnova Beauty has acquired Niche Beauty Lab, the cosmetics laboratory behind science-focused skin care brands such as Acnemy, Theramid, and Transparent Lab.
Founded in 2018, the Barcelona-based beauty business will continue to operate in its current form under Cosnova’s ownership, with founder and CEO Sergio Chorrero at the helm.
The acquisition marks Cosnova’s entry into skin care, which co-founder and CEO Javier González described as one of the most dynamic growth segments in the beauty industry.
The family-run Germany-based firm owns colour cosmetics brands essence and Catrice Cosmetics.
The deal strengthens skin care “as a strategic future field that we aim to further develop through scientific expertise, strong brands, and international scalability”, said González.
“For more than two decades, we have been writing an international success story with our brands essence and Catrice, shaping the category through innovation and strong consumer centricity
“At the heart of this success is our ambition to democratise beauty and offer outstanding value for money.
“With Niche Beauty Lab, we have found a partner who shares this philosophy, making it a perfect fit for Cosnova."
Niche Beauty Labs will have access to Cosnova’s global distribution networks to help fuel its next phase of growth.
“Since our founding in 2018, we at Niche Beauty Lab have pursued the goal of changing the rules of the cosmetics industry and democratising beauty,” said Chorrero.
“Our ‘from the lab to your home’ approach combines scientific expertise, highly effective formulations, and exceptional quality at affordable prices.
“With Cosnova, we have found a partner who not only offers the international infrastructure and scaling capabilities for our next growth phase, but also shares our values, while fully preserving our identity, our teams, and our way of working.”
