Danes ban cosmetic ingredients in hormone scare
Concern over children’s products
Denmark has banned the sale of personal care products for children aged under three where they include the ingredients propyl and butylparaben. This follows a study concluding these substances were endocrine disrupters and could damage hormone development in young children. A Danish government note stressed their “use in lotions and sunscreens” and that it had taken action under the ‘safety clause’ of the EU cosmetics directive.
