UK department store chain Debenhams has kicked off a £25m refurbishment project of its flagship store on London’s Oxford Street. The redevelopment will see an additional 20,000sqft of space added to the trading floor, which will be used to house an extended range of brands and services, new treatment rooms, a new space for niche brands and a revamped fragrance hall.
The look of the space has also been transformed in line with the makeover. All of the fixtures have been replaced and white ceramic flooring has been installed. The windows have also been opened up to let in natural light and allow people from the street to get a glimpse into the store.
“We have an extremely loyal cosmetics and fragrance customer base, so we are excited about sharing our new vision with them,” said Sara Stern, Debenhams Health & Beauty Director. Along with a renewed focus on services through the opening of a Bliss Mini Spa and Benefit waxing services, the expanded department will also see the roll-out of a greater number of luxury brands including Tom Ford, Marni, Jean Patou and Dior’s first international flagship. According to Debenhams, it will be one of only five to exist in the UK.
