Dutch ingredients supplier has been granted Carbon Trust Standard certification for its Scottish-based vitamin C manufacturing facility. The certification was awarded to recognise DSM’s commitment to combating climate change. The company provided evidence on real reductions in its CO2 emissions, rather than paying third parties to reduce emissions via off-setting or green tariffs.

The plant in Dalry is the only Western manufacturer of vitamin C according to DSM, and produces the vitamin under the QUALI-C brand name.

With the certification, DSM joins a select group of twelve ‘Pathfinder’ companies, the first to be awarded the Carbon Trust Standard.

“We are delighted that our facility in Dalry has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard certification,” said Stephen Tanda, member of DSM’s managing board. “This is another example of our commitment to quality, reliability, traceability and sustainability. DSM is proud to be taking a leading role in tackling the impact of carbon emissions on climate change.”
