Energy efficient

Hosokawa Micron has developed a new single step spray dryer and granulator, said to save energy over more conventional multi-step, spray drying and re-wet agglomeration production technology.

The Agglomaster is described as a sanitary, multi-functional granulator, said to bring together spray drying, agglomeration and granulation technology in a single machine. It can also be used with products that are difficult to agglomerate in conventional spray dryers.

During operation the liquid is atomised via the bottom spray nozzles into a fluidised bed. Liquid droplets initially fed into the bed evaporate and solid material solidifies to become fine particles. These particles can then be grown.
