EU nanocosmetics committee says new tests needed for coated particles

An EU working party assessing the safety of using nanotechnology in cosmetics has decided new separate test methods are needed for nanoparticles coated in substances, making use of their relatively large surface area.

It has concluded “further discussion is required in particular regarding the equivalence of uncoated and the differently coated nanoparticles,” said meeting minutes.
