Evonik and Aqualon join forces on cosmetic polymers

Evonik Goldschmidt GmbH and Aqualon, a division of Hercules Inc, have announced a co-operation designed to bring new multifunctional polymers to the personal care market. The initiative combines technology expertise of natural polymers from Aqualon with market expertise and application know how from Evonik Goldschmidt, say the companies.

The initiative combines technology expertise of natural polymers from Aqualon with market expertise and application know how from Evonik Goldschmidt, say the companies.

"Aqualon sees an exciting future thanks to our collaboration with Evonik Goldschmidt. Their application expertise will accelerate the creation of

innovative new products for the personal care industry," commented Jeff Wolff, general manager regulated industries at Aqualon.

Willy Klipp, senior vice president and general manager of personal care added: “Evonik Goldschmidt is committed to the relationship with Aqualon. The addition of natural polymers strongly enhances our existing portfolio of silicones, organic specialties and active ingredients”.

Cellulosics (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), water soluble polymers for cleansing formulations, is the basis for the collaboration. The products are marketed by Evonik Goldschmidt under the new trade name Tegocel and Tegocel fluid. Planned for launch in the near are innovate carbohydrate derivatives for skin and hair care.
