Rather than relying on conventional petrochemical synthesis, it is produced through bio-based production pathways, including microbial fermentation. This makes it a promising sustainable alternative to conventional fossil-derived ingredients and reflects the growing shift toward renewable raw materials in the cosmetics industry.
The application of the RSPO Mass Balance (MB) system further highlights its connection to a sustainable palm-based raw material supply chain.
