Munich-based chemical company Wacker has launched a silicone elastomer gel that can be used as an additive in different cosmetic formulations.

Wacker-Belsil RG 90 acts as a binder in powder formulations and a film forming additive in cream and stick formulations. Due to its film forming and adhesive properties the gel increases water and transfer resistance of lipsticks, mascara and foundation.

Wacker-Belsil RG 90 is a swollen gel comprising a crosslinked silicone resin solid constituent and an isododecane liquid constituent, found in the network cavities.

Also new is cyclodextrin tea tree oil. The molecular inclusion of tea tree oil in cyclodextrin stabilises the volatile oil, reduces its distinct odour and ensures that the oil is released onto the skin in its juvenile, chemically unmodified form, avoiding skin irritation.
