Givaudan supports the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity
Givaudan shows its commitment to the environment with a new book
Fragrance and flavour creator Givaudan is actively supporting the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity proclaimed by the United Nations. As part of the company’s contribution in this field, a new book by Givaudan scientist Roman Kaiser will be launched in November 2010.
Called Scent of the Vanishing Flora, the book shows the variety of life forms on earth providing a discussion on the scent of endangered plants species. The publication of the book is endorsed by the Convention on Biological Diversity.Dr Kaiser is a scientist known for his investigation and reconstruction of all types of natural scents using the ‘headspace’ technique that Givaudan adapted for its specific use in the field.
Using this technique, it’s possible to capture the scents of even the most endangered plant species in their natural habitat without harming them. Givaudan has employed many of these reconstructed scents in the creation of famous fragrances.Givaudan is committed to preserving the environment and safeguarding biodiversity, with programmes such as the Innovative Naturals and ByNature that allow the fragrance creator to have at disposal a plethora of ingredients that contribute to the sustainable development and fair practices in the fragrance industry.
