The online search giant’s 2025 Year in Search report has dropped, which rounds up the trending searches that people have been looking up this year, ranging from beauty trends, pop culture and aesthetics, to people, television, films and more.
The data reflects the top trending queries of the year – searches which have experienced a high spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2025 compared to 2024, explained Google.

Furry nails took nail art to new levels
The nails category experienced a huge surge of interest online this year, reported Google, with a flurry of new and inventive styles gaining traction.
‘Furry nails’ – a nail art trend that uses flocking powder or small pieces of faux fur to create a soft, fuzzy texture – came out top of the list of the most trending nail colours/styles searches this year, after experiencing a high spike in traffic.
The whimsical look pushed the boundaries of what a textured manicure could look like, enabling nail lovers to show off their eccentricity and creativity.

“This trend was definitely really unique, and I think the fact that they are so avant-garde contributed to the search interest,” Jenny Lee, Lead Analyst, Google Trends, told Cosmetics Business.
