Make-up-free selfies have been around almost as long as the selfie itself. Beyoncé has been bragging that she “woke up like this” since 2013 in her song Flawless, and a year later the bare-faced selfie trend raised more than £8m for Cancer Research when it went viral on social media with consumers keen to share in a trend that was, for many, considered liberating.
But while the no-make-up selfies have since disappeared from our news feeds, the trend for fresh-faced beauty is still well and truly here. Even beauty junkie Kylie Jenner has joined the trend, by posing on Instagram without her usual full face of make-up. And now singer-songwriter Alicia Keys has taken the #NoMakeUp selfie a step further.
