IKW teams up with NaTrue

German cosmetics industry association IKW and the NaTrue grouping of European producers of natural and organic cosmetics have formed a strategic alliance in a bid to establish an internationally accepted NaTrue designation to obtain recognition for the sector.


German cosmetics industry association IKW and the NaTrue grouping of European producers of natural and organic cosmetics have formed a strategic alliance in a bid to establish an internationally accepted NaTrue designation to obtain recognition for the sector.

IKW says the basis for the move was the current worldwide variability in the interpretation of natural cosmetics because of the absence of a clear regulatory definition. This variability and the proliferation of designations which are not always transparent in their meaning had led to confusion among consumers. The organisation said it would work with German producers within the ambit of NaTrue in order to create an internationally recognised definition and a form of labelling that was acceptable worldwide.
