Increased demand sees L’Oréal set up production in Russia

L’Oréal Russia achieves 17.6% sales increase in first half 2010


L'Oréal has inaugurated its first production plant in Russia, 85km south of Moscow in the Kaluga region. The plant will produce shampoos, conditioners and hair colouring agents for the Garnier and L'Oréal Paris brands to be will be marketed in Russia, Ukraine and the CIS states.

The project, which will manufacture 120 million units a year, is a response to continuing strong demand in the local market. L'Oréal Russia posted sales of about €563m in 2009 and has since seen sales increase in first half 2010 by 17.6%.

Pekka Huttunen, director general of L'Oréal Russia, said sales had tripled since 2004 and Russia was now the eighth within the group in terms of sales and one of the strongest in terms of growth.
