iRomaScents take home the prize for the Technology & Digital Innovation Category in the Cosmetics Business Innovation Awards

Judge Guive Balooch, Global Vice President: Tech and Open Innovation at L'Oréal, highlighted the innovation’s AI driven interface, personalisation and 90% conversion ratio as an impressive advancement from the traditional fragrance retail experience.

The winners of the first-ever Cosmetics Business Innovation Awards (CBIAs) have been revealed, celebrating the outstanding developments and achievements of companies across the global cosmetics and personal care supply chain.

The B2B-focused awards programme spotlights the very best in ingredients, packaging, contract manufacturing, technology, testing, regulatory and compliance.

iRomaScents, and its Intelligent Fragrance Discovery Platform, secured the win for its AI-guided, interactive shopping experience, which marks a considerable advancement in perfume retail technology.

The self-service technology incorporates a digital interface, where shoppers complete an interactive questionnaire on fragrance preferences. Using AI, the system then recommends tailored fragrance matches, and delivers spritzes of the selected fragrances directly, eliminating the need for traditional testers and reducing sample waste.

Balooch commended the enhanced sampling and fragrance testing experience from this technology, which solves the sensory fatigue and hygiene challenges typically associated with traditional 'browse and smell' fragrance retail models.

He was also particularly impressed by how the innovation's personalised and targeted approach boosted conversion rates to over 90%, representing a substantial improvement in the industry and highlighting the technology's potential as a major sales optimisation tool.
