Sixth consecutive year company has been honoured

Japanese cosmetics manufacturer Kao has been named one of the ‘World’s Most Ethical Companies of 2012’, according to US think tank, the Ethisphere Institute. Since the first listing in 2007, Kao is the only Japanese company to have been included in the list for six consecutive years.

For 2012's listing, Ethisphere Institute surveyed companies in over 100 countries and in 36 different industries, as part of their work on researching corporate ethics and social responsibility.

As part of its business ethos, Kao says it advocates integrity which indicates that the company is abiding by laws and ethics to engage in honest and healthy corporate activities.

In addition to this work, as part of its efforts to place ecology at the core of management, Kao has strengthened its environmental initiatives in the past year, having opened a new research facility, the Eco-Technology Research Centre, in June 2011.
