L’Occitane announces the acquisition of Erborian skin care brand
First range with Asian roots for the company
L’Occitane International and its subsidiaries have announced that it has acquired a majority stake in the premium skin care brand Erborian, which marks the first acquisition of the brand after its listing in Hong Kong. This is the first skin care product range which has Asian roots for L’Occitane and will help complement the existing brand portfolio and help drive future growth globally.
In addition it is believed that the acquisition will allow the company to expand its current network channels and diversify product categories for the Erborian brand and to globalise the Erborian business in partnership with its founders who will be leading this expansion.
Reinold Geiger, ceo of L’Occitane commented on the deal: “This is an exciting time for us and marks our first skin care product range with an Asian heritage. I believe this deal is complementary to our existing business in focusing on the natural ingredient based cosmetics space and provide us with a good opportunity to build upon our long-term growth strategy with controlled investments.”
