The organisers of in-cosmetics have extended early bird booking for its series of half-day workshops. Delegates who book their place by 7 March will benefit from a 10% discount on sessions that include technical and scientific experts from the likes of L’Oréal and Johnson & Johnson.

This year's programme boasts a total of nine workshops, which have been devised to address the industry's hottest topics including animal testing, paraben-free preservative systems and developments in the lucrative haircare market.

NEW pre-show workshop – Recent Perspectives in Nanotechnology – 31 March, 14:00-18:00
This Workshop, in cooperation with the IFSCC, will focus on the hot topic of efficacy, safety and reality of nanomaterials in sun protection and skin care formulation. It will investigate the requirements of EU regulation 1223/2009/WE, including the tools and methodologies to measure particle size and safety studies.

The Animal Testing Ban – What's Next? Part 1 – 1 April, 09:00-12:30
In the first of a two part series that investigates alternatives to animal testing, this session offers attendees essential information for adhering to new legislation across Europe and other regions where the animal testing ban will be coming into force.

The Animal Testing Ban – What's Next? Part 2 - 1 April, 13:30-17:30
In part two, attendees can gain insights into multi-tier alternative strategies for skin sensitisation testing. Speakers will explore the biochemical mechanisms behind the effect, how these are addressed by alternative methods and educate attendees on how information is put together like mosaic pieces for sensitisation assessment.

Developing Paraben-free Preservative Systems – 1 April, 13:00-17:00
The safety of paraben use in cosmetics and their potential link to cancer has been one of the most hotly disputed issues in the cosmetics industry over the last decade.

This workshop will look at the advances being made in alternative preservative systems including the latest techniques and tips for creating stable, paraben-free formulations.

How to Break into the Brazilian Personal Care Market – 2 April, 09:00 – 13:00
In keeping with this year's Country Focus feature, this workshop will explore existing Brazilian regulations on cosmetic products, upcoming rules on sunscreens and general legal requirements for market entry. Participants will learn about the latest trends and innovations in one of the world's fastest growing cosmetics markets, as well as gain advice on finding distributors.

Rethinking Anti-ageing – The Skin, The Brain and Our Senses – 2 April, 09:00-13:00
Skin care remains the biggest market within the cosmetics industry, while consumers continue their quest for the perfect complexion. This workshop focuses on how to bring well-being and pleasure via new methods of measuring sensory aspects and hedonistic experiences that involve interaction between the brain and the skin.

How to Break into the Chinese Personal Care Market – 2 April, 14:00-18:00
China is a notoriously difficult market to enter, but potentially one of the most lucrative for manufacturers who succeed in appealing to consumer demand, while adhering to complex regulatory rules.

Offering practical advice on everything from customs to market dynamics, this talk provides advice for marketers and manufacturers alike on how to break into the Chinese cosmetic market.

Sustainable Claim Substantiation – Regulatory “Need to Know” – 2 April, 14:00-18:00
In an age where sustainability is becoming a key component for businesses of all types, this Workshop offers an overview of current legislation.

This session addresses critical aspects of the EU Regulation (claim substantiation, common criteria and contractual obligations) as well as claims related to greenness and sustainability. It will also explore the question of whether green formulating and manufacturing means “only plant derived” and/or “XYZ certified”.
