Estée Lauder has introduced Idealist Dual-Action Refining Treatment, which it claims is an alternative to microdermabrasion and a 30% glycolic acid peel.

The new product uses thermal technology to release a warming sensation that dissolves the build up of grease and sebum in pores. Lauder’s MicroSphere Refinishing System then gently polishes away the skin’s dead outermost surface layer. Comprising five gentle refinishing spheres that roll across the skin, it helps shed rough, dry flakes. These include soft sweep spheres, strengthening bamboo spheres, intense jade spheres, hydra replenishing spheres and skin conditioning ones, which have a similar effect to the aluminium oxide crystals used in micro-dermabrasion, only gentler, says Lauder.

Glucosamine and salicylic acid work at a deeper level within the skin’s surface to help with exfoliation.
